Born in the province of Amdo in 1935, His Holiness the Dalai Lama is both the spiritual and temporal leader of Tibet. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989. The personification of compassionate action, His Holiness works unceasingly for the preservation and transmission of the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as the conservation of the cultural heritage of the Tibetan people. A tireless defender of universal human qualities over and beyond the various religious and philosophical expressions, His Holiness was also, for many years, the head of the Tibetan government in exile.
Of course everyone is H.Holiness student. He has been so influential in our century that there are certainly thousands of people who have read his books and attend his teachings. I had the chance to be his translator for Portuguese in 2001 in Portugal. I also translated a few of his books into Portuguese. His teaching and universal approach has been extremely valuable to me. I received many teachings and initiations.
